About Us
Child Rights Observatory, Madhya Pradesh is an independent platform established for sharing insights, experiences, concerns for promoting and monitoring child rights individually or collectively in the State of Madhya Pradesh in consonance with the U.N. Convention of Child Rights. Conceptualized with the initiative and support of UNICEF, Child Rights Observatory, Madhya Pradesh (CROMP) aims at monitoring, advocating, lobbying, promoting rights of all children and youth in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
 
Vision of CROMP
To create a better state for all children and young persons.
 
Mission of CROMP
Placing the issue of children’s rights at the center of state policy and human rights concerns highlighting the priority to children and their well being thus ensuring establishment of child rights in M.P.
 
Objectives of CROMP
  Support government policies, policy improvement foe development of children.
  Research and presentation of age specific gender segregated data base on children and young people.
  Advocacy for rights of children & young people at various levels.
  Awareness generation amongst children and young people for their rights.
  Increasing participation of children and young people in process, initiatives and institutions concern to them.
  Monitoring child rights and implementation of UN convention of Child Rights in Madhya Pradesh.
 
Governing Council
The Child Rights Observatory, Madhya Pradesh, in fact is a society registered under Madhya Pradesh Society Registration Act. 1973 with No. 01/01/01/18379/07 dated 31/10/2007. It is a Non Governmental Organization, but has a special status. Its main objective is monitoring the progress of Child Rights in the State. It is the first of its kind institution in India and 20th in the world. It will act as a mediator between the government and non-government sectors. The institution has a Governing Body consisting of the following:
President:   Smt. Nirmala Buch, IAS (Retd), Former Chief Secretary of the Govt of Madhya Pradesh.
Vice President:   Mrs. Hirkirat Bains, Academician, Bhopal.
Secretary:   Dr. Sheela Bhambal, Pediatrician, State Coordinator, Breast Feeding Promotion Network of India, Bhopal.
Treasurer:   Shri. Taposh Roy, State Representative, DFID MP.
Members:    Mr. Lalit Shastri. Principal Correspondent, the Hindu, Bhopal. 
    Prof. Uday Jain, (Psychology) former Vice Chancellor, APS University, Rewa.
    Shri. Mukesh Sinha, Executive Director, M.P. BHA Indore.
    Ms. Mohaib Ahmed, Social Activist, Bhopal.
    Prof. B R Chauhan, Legal Expert, NLIU Lucknow (U.P)
 
Managing Team
The management of this institution is being looked after by a team, which consist of the following:
